Fourth generation of the Inspiron stent: a 75 µm cobalt-chromium platform, a biodegradable abluminal coating and a reduced crossing profile for complex coronary lesions.

The Inspiron EVO is a sirolimus-eluting coronary stent (DES) designed for percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty in the treatment of coronary artery disease. It is the fourth generation of the Inspiron family, developed by Scitech Medical, a Brazilian manufacturer with over 20 years in minimally invasive devices, a presence in more than 45 countries and an ISO 13485-certified technology center.
Its cobalt-chromium platform with 75 µm struts combines a reduced crossing profile with greater radial strength. The coating is abluminal: the drug is applied only to the surface in contact with the arterial wall, within a matrix of 100% biodegradable PLA and PLGA polymers, with an optimized sirolimus dose that provides moderate elution and promotes fast, homogeneous endothelialization.
The result is a stent built for the interventional cardiologist's daily practice: good deliverability in tortuous anatomy, side-branch access in bifurcations and a matrix of 47 sizes from 2.25 to 4.0 mm in diameter and 9 to 58 mm in length.
Every component of the Inspiron EVO was redesigned from the previous generation to improve lesion crossing without compromising support or safety.
Thin CoCr alloy struts that reduce stent profile and, thanks to an optimized design, deliver greater radial strength at the same thickness.
A 5 µm layer applied only to the surface in contact with the vessel wall, made of PLA and PLGA, 100% biodegradable polymers.
Optimized sirolimus dosing that produces a moderate drug-release profile aimed at fast, homogeneous endothelialization.
A significant profile reduction versus the previous generation, translating into excellent ability to cross complex lesions.
Hydrophilic-coated delivery system, a new balloon folding configuration and “S” connectors for high flexibility.
A design that eases side-branch access in bifurcations, with rounded struts to avoid injuring the arterial wall.
Published studies with the Inspiron stent (Legacy and EVO platforms), mostly compared with a biolimus-eluting stent.
In the randomized DESTINY trial, strut coverage assessed by optical coherence tomography at 9 months was superior to the biolimus stent (99.49% vs. 97.62%; p<0.001), with non-inferior late lumen loss.
Costa JR Jr. et al., 2017 · Lemos PA et al., 2015The REPAIR study showed strut coverage above 90% at one month and close to 97% at three-month follow-up.
Silva GBG et al., J Invasive Cardiol 2023At five-year DESTINY follow-up there were no definite or probable stent thromboses in the Inspiron group, with major adverse cardiac event rates comparable to the control.

The 48 and 58 mm versions are available in 3.0 and 3.5 mm diameters, intended for long and diffuse lesions.
It is a coronary stent coated with sirolimus, an antiproliferative drug released in a controlled way to reduce tissue growth inside the stent and the risk of restenosis after angioplasty.
It significantly reduces the crossing profile and adds a hydrophilic delivery system with a new balloon folding configuration, plus an optimized stent design that increases radial strength while keeping 75 µm struts.
Yes. The 5 µm abluminal coating is made of PLA (polylactic acid) and PLGA (poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)), both 100% biodegradable.
Diameters from 2.25 to 4.0 mm and lengths from 9 to 58 mm, in 47 combinations. The 48 and 58 mm lengths are offered in 3.0 and 3.5 mm.
